about
Hello, I’m Megan.
I’m a counselor and art therapist, a mother, and an American who has made a home in France. For more than twenty years I have helped women, couples and families find their footing through life’s big transitions.
I know the move to France: the paperwork, the emotions, the second language, the friendships that take time, and the quiet moments when home feels very far away.
Why I do this work
My professional path and my own experience as a mother led me to specialise in women’s wellbeing and maternal mental health. I have seen how much changes — identity, relationships, the body, the sense of who we are — when we become parents, when we lose someone, or when we move our whole life to another country.
Moving between the United States and France taught me the rest: how tiring it is to explain yourself in a second language, how long it takes for a place to feel like home, and how much a single good conversation can help. Ma Zen Space is the place I wish more newcomers had. It is a place where anyone can come to find connection and support throughout their life journey, whatever it may hold. This practice is inclusive and welcoming to all.
How I work
Sessions are warm, collaborative and paced by you. I draw on three approaches, combined to fit what you need:
Talking and practical tools informed by cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), to understand patterns and try new ways of responding.
Mindfulness, including mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), breathing and gentle body-based practices.
Art therapy, because sometimes expressing ourselves requires more than words. No artistic skill is needed, and materials are provided.
I work with adults and couples, in English or French or a mix of both. I always work alongside medical care, never instead of it, and with your consent I am happy to coordinate with your doctor or midwife.
Languages
English (native) and French (fluent). Bilingual couples are very welcome — we can move between languages as you need.
